VIRAT KOHLI
VIRAT KOHLI
Virat Kohli is a name synonymous with Indian
cricket, and his impact on the IPL has been no less significant. The current
Indian captain has been a part of the IPL since its inception and has had a
remarkable journey in the tournament so far.
Kohli started his IPL career in 2008 with the
Royal Challengers Bangalore and made an immediate impact, scoring 165 runs in
12 matches at an average of 15.00. However, it was in the following season that
Kohli truly announced himself, scoring 246 runs in 16 matches at an average of
22.36.
Since then, there has been no looking back
for Kohli, who has grown into one of the best batsmen in the world and a leader
par excellence. He has been a consistent performer for the Royal Challengers
Bangalore, leading them to the finals on three occasions (in 2009, 2011, and
2016) but unfortunately falling short each time.
Kohli's individual records in the IPL are
staggering, to say the least. He is the leading run-scorer in the tournament's
history, with 6,613 runs in 199 matches at an average of 38.16. He has scored
five centuries and 40 half-centuries and has a high score of 113.
Kohli's captaincy record in the IPL has also
been impressive, with the Royal Challengers Bangalore winning 62 out of 127
matches under his leadership. Kohli's aggressive approach to the game and his
never-say-die attitude have won him many admirers, both on and off the field.
As we gear up for IPL Cricket 2023, all eyes
will be on Kohli and the Royal Challengers Bangalore as they look to break
their title drought. With Kohli in prime form and leading from the front, there
is no doubt that the Royal Challengers Bangalore will be a force to reckon with
in the upcoming season.
